Let the Wind blow

John 3:8 –“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

A number of years ago, I was walking across a bridge to get to an island beach in Massachusetts. The wind had come up fast and was blowing like mad. There were a number of pretty crazy guys windsurfing; ripping back and forth across the channel. I watched them for a little while and the Lord spoke to me and said–that’s what I want you to be for Me, one who goes wherever the Wind (His Spirit) takes you.

I spoke with one of the guys I was watching as he got to shore. He said there were a couple of keys to riding the wind. I was amazed how right on they were with living life by the Spirit. This was what he said:

1.  It has little to do with size or strength

  • It’s not by might, nor by power but by My Spirit says the Lord.  Zec 4:6
  • The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak… Matt 26:41

2.  Relax and don’t fight it

  • There must be a people that enter His rest. Heb 4:6
  • You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you. 2 Chron 20:17

3.  Balance

  • Our gospel did not come to you in Word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction…  1 Thess 1:5
  • It’s not just the Word it’s the Spirit, and It’s not just the Spirit it’s also the Word

Living and moving with the Wind of the Spirit requires us to remain fluid in Him.  Many times we thought we knew the next step and how things would come to pass, only to have the Lord redirect us in a way we never imagined. The Word says that in a man’s heart he plans his ways, but the Lord directs his steps (Prov. 16:9).  The Lord always has a plan…

We were blessed to have served, learned from and traveled with an amazing man of God named G.C. McCurry.  He told my wife and me that the Lord showed him a vision for training centers being raised up to train, equip and send out ministry all over the earth.  The Lord showed him that He would use these Kingdom hubs to reach the world in a way that had never been seen before.  He said that he planned for us to join him in establishing them.  Central America was next.  And so this vision took root in us.  But then four years ago, this apostolic man crossed over.  My wife and I wondered what would become of this vision that was imparted to us.  Then we felt it–

There’s a Wind blowing in Guatemala…

Bill Johnson’s wife from Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry recently spoke a word from the Lord concerning Guatemala.  The word was–when the Mayan calander comes to an end, it’s the end of a season and it will be the dawning of a new day in the Spirit in Guatemala.

We recently have seen a number of people from different backgrounds, from different organizations, from different regions of the world all feel a draw to go or send people to Guatemala.  The ones we have heard from didn’t get a memo, but they said they felt a breeze in the Spirit directing them there.

Moving with the Wind…

The Lord has placed it on the leadership at Adventures and also our hearts to go and be apart of what He’s doing in Guatemala by helping to establish a training center there. A pastor friend of mine recently reminded me that in Hebrews 3, the word used for house or dwelling place is the same whether talking of a physical structure or referring to us, as a people, being built up as a habitation for Christ.  So we go to help build up a people…
